Privacy policy

This policy explains what Schank Studio collects when you visit schank.io or buy from us here, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have. Schank Studio is a small business run by one person. Write to contact@schank.io with any question about your information.
What we collect
When you browse. Our hosting provider records basic request logs (IP address, browser and the page asked for) to run and protect the site. Google Analytics and Metricool set analytics cookies and record which pages you view, how you arrived, what device you use and roughly where you are, so we can see what people are interested in. If you allow marketing cookies, the Meta pixel also records the pages and products you view and whether you buy, so our Facebook and Instagram ads can be measured and shown to people likely to be interested.
When you buy. Your name, email address, shipping address, phone number if you give one, and what you ordered. Payment is handled by Stripe on its own checkout page. We never see or store your full card number. When a payment completes, our server tells Google Analytics what was bought and for how much, linked to the anonymous analytics ID in your browser, not to your name. If you allowed marketing cookies, it also tells Meta about the purchase, with your email, phone number, name and address in hashed (one-way scrambled) form plus your IP address and browser type, so Meta can match the sale to its ads.
When you place a custom order. The photos you upload, your pet's name and anything you write about them, and your comments on the proof.
When you write to us. Your email address and whatever your message says.
When you join the email list. Your email address, the page you signed up on, what you asked for (such as the free sample pages) and the wording you agreed to, with the date.
How we use it
To make, ship and support your order; to send the emails about it (receipt, proof, shipping updates); to answer your questions; to keep tax and accounting records; to prevent fraud; to see which products and pages people are interested in; and, only if you allowed marketing cookies, to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and choose who sees them. We do not send marketing email unless you join the email list.
The email list
If you sign up for the free sample, we keep your email address so we can tell you about new books and gifts from Schank Studio now and then. The sample download is shown on the page right away, so signing up does not start any automatic emails. We use the list only for Schank Studio news. We never sell it, rent it or give it to anyone else. It is stored in Supabase with our other records. To be removed, write to contact@schank.io from that address, or use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, and we delete it.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that do part of the work for us, and only what they need:
- Stripe, to take payment.
- Printful (apparel, mugs and other printed goods) and Lulu (custom books), to print your order and ship it. They receive your name, shipping address, email and phone number.
- Supabase, where order records and custom-order photos are stored, and Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Resend, which sends our order emails.
- Higgsfield, an AI image service, receives the photos for a custom order so the drawings can be made from them. Every drawing is checked by a person before you see it.
- Google Analytics and Metricool, for site analytics, including the value of completed purchases.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only if you allowed marketing cookies: the pages and products you view on this site, and your purchases as described above.
We may also share information when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information for money. If you allow marketing cookies, your browsing activity on this site is shared with Meta for advertising, which some state privacy laws call "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out at any time, as described below.
How long we keep it
Custom-order photos are deleted automatically once the order is finished: about 30 days after it ships, or within a day of an order being cancelled or refunded. Unpaid custom orders are cancelled after 2 days and their photos deleted. Order records (what was bought, by whom, for how much and where it went) are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Analytics and advertising data is kept under Google's, Metricool's and Meta's own retention settings.
Cookies and your choices
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Metricool) are set on every visit. They tell us how the site is used, not who you are. You can block them with your browser's settings or an extension, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
Marketing cookies (the Meta pixel) are off until you choose Allow marketing cookies. If you choose No thanks, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, they stay off, and we treat that signal as an opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising. Your choice is saved in your browser. You can change it any time with Cookie settings, which is also at the bottom of every page.
Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page, which it needs to take payment safely.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can opt out of sharing for targeted advertising. Write to contact@schank.io. We answer within 30 days. We may need to keep some order records for tax law, and we will tell you if so. Depending on where you live, your state's privacy law may give you further rights; we honor those requests the same way.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top.
