Cozy coloring books for adults
Cozy coloring books for adults: a kindly haunted house, cozy mysteries, dark academia libraries, cottage search-and-color, fae romance and funny animals.
A cozy coloring book is one where nothing bad happens on any page. Somebody has made tea. The cat is asleep on something important. It's raining outside and the lamp is on. You can color one page in an evening and feel like the house got a little quieter.
These are ours. Each one has 30 single-sided pages, so markers don't bleed through onto the next picture, and each is a $9.99 paperback on Amazon or a $3.99 printable on Etsy that you can print as many times as you like.
For October, and for people who keep October all year
Kindly Haunted is the one for people who like Halloween but not the scary part. The Long Library is for anybody who has wanted to live in a library in October, which, going by the dark academia shelf at every bookstore, is a lot of people.
For mystery readers
A murder has been committed and the cat is not saying anything. It's a good gift for the person in your life who has seen every episode of every British detective show at least twice.
For people who like to look closely
There's no list of things to find. You just notice them as you color, which is somehow more satisfying than being told.
For romance readers
For the reader who has a shelf of fantasy romance and an opinion about every one of them. It's sweet, not spicy, so it's safe to leave on the coffee table.
For anyone having a week
This is the funny one. There's no writing on any page, because you've read enough emails today, and the joke is in the picture.
Which pens to use
Colored pencils work on any of them. Alcohol markers are fine too, since every picture is printed on one side of the page, but slip a sheet of cardstock behind the page you're on anyway. Gel pens are good for the small details, like the string lights in the library windows or the ghost's mug. If you're printing the Etsy version at home, a heavier paper, around 32 lb or 120 gsm, takes markers better than regular copy paper.
Picking one as a gift
Match it to what they read. Mystery fans get Suspiciously Cozy, fantasy readers get Slow Burn, Pointy Ears, and the friend who sends you memes about being tired gets Coping Beautifully. If you can't decide, Find and Color: The Cottage suits almost anyone, since there's something hiding on every page and nothing to read.
